Drama classes build performance foundations and chore acting skills, while developing self expression and creative thinking. This term students will focus on developing a performance skill set while working on both improvised and scripted scenes.

Students learn stagecraft, how to work together as a team, how to communicate stories and develop captivating and dynamic scenes. There will be a focus on character development, and motivation within a scene. The lessons involve components of musical theatre, theatre games and improv theatre skills.

The club leader, Rachel. Stewart has extensive experience as a writer, director and coach of children's theatre. Her work as a director includes musicals, comedies, improvised longform and Shakespeare. Rachel is also a seasoned performer and improviser herself and grew up in Professional Theatre family.

Rachel founded the Active Children's Theatre Group eleven years ago and has since mounted more than thirty children's theatre performances. She has also cast many of her students into short films produced by Hans Kok productions for Nordhoff.

Rachel places great emphasis on developing each child as individuals, ultimately even writing them parts that specifically extend and challenge them, while playing to their strengths.
